Traditional Birthing Services is a family
based business providing expecting
families with affordable educational,
cultural and artistic services from an
African-Centered perspective

We are the parents of two beautiful children.
Our first child (boy) was born in a birthing
center. Our second (girl) was born at home.
Both births were attended by midwives.

When we became pregnant with our son, my
husband and I had very little knowledge about
pregnancy, labor or birth.

We signed up for a Bradley Method ®
Childbirth Education class and it changed our
outlook on birth...and our lives. We left the
class empowered with several tools not just
for having a natural birth but also with a
wealth of information to help us make
informed decisions throughout pregnancy and
during birth.

After my son was born we were ecstatic
about how well those tools worked! The fear
and uncertainty was all but eliminated which
made our experience smooth and very
pleasant.

When we shared our experiences with others,
people thought we were crazy for having the
baby naturally and when I told my friends that
the contractions weren't that bad no one
believed me.

In talking with friends we learned that
unfortunately our beautiful experience was
not how most people remembered having a
baby and that labor and birth is traumatic for
many mothers and fathers. That was when we
decided to help as many families have the
beautiful birthing experiences that we had.

The anchor of TBS is the Childbirth
Education/ Preparation Program. Our
program strives provide parents with
the essential tools for navigating the
pregnancy and birth world.

TBS strives to provide the missing
cultural and spiritual elements, unique to
the African Diasporic experience with
Blessingway Ceremonies and
Postpartum N'Sansi services.

Pregnancy and birth can be the most
memorable times of a families' life. TBS
seeks to capture the beauty of this
special time with, Belly Cast/Painting
and Maternity/Event Photography.
