Childbirth Education Program
Empowering You to Create the Birthing Experience you Want!
|
There are many reasons to take Childbirth Education, however the most compelling argument to take Childbirth Education is to learn how to achieve optimum health for mother and baby.
We take for granted that a healthy mother and baby is an automatic

Unfortunately this is not the case, particularly for Black women and children. According to a recent CDC-NCHS report:

We offer early pregnancy workshops and 12-Week Preparation Series to adequately educate and prepare expecting parents for achieving the ultimate goal of healthy mother and baby.
Unlike childbirth classes offered by health care institutions we offer comprehensive information to empower the parent(s) to make intelligent decisions. We offer information about the many options presented in pregnancy, labor and birth, outlining the pros and cons for each option.
Additionally our childbirth education program is presented from an African perspective, providing information uniquely relevant to the African Diasporic experience.

Childbirth Education is not just about having a
natural birth, nor is it just for young or first time
parents.
Some Reasons to take Childbirth Education:
- You want to successfully have a natural birth
- You want to thoroughly understand the
common pregnancy illnesses and what you
can do to prevent or alleviate them
- You want to understand the common
pregnancy and childbirth tests and
procedures and to thoroughly understand the
associated risks.
- You want to know how to have a healthy
pregnancy
- You want to know what to expect from labor
and birth
- You want to get practice for the big day so
that you can be
- You want your labor partner to be well
informed and to have tools to help you
through labor and delivery.
- Black women had the highest infant
mortality rate in the United States in 2004-
13.60 per 1,000 live births
- Compared to 5.66 per 1,000 births among
white women and the national average of
6.78 per 1,000 birth.
- Of those nearly 1/2 (and the leading cause)
of the infant deaths to Black women were
due to causes related to pre-term
(premature) birth.
- Compared to 11% premature births among
white women, 10% among asian women and
the national total of 13%
That means Black babies are more like to come
early and they die at more than double the rate
of any other race.
The Good News! Many of the health complications experienced by both mother and baby leading to premature birth can be prevented or resolved with good education and preparation.
